Surrender of Senior Naxal Cadres in Telangana: Azad Among 8 Who Lay Down Arms

In Telangana, the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh, Naxal leader Azad along with 8 other Naxalites has surrendered. However, no official confirmation of their surrender has been issued yet. Naxalite Azad is a leader of the Telangana State Committee. He was active in both Chhattisgarh and Telangana. A reward of more than ₹40 lakh had been announced for him.
Among those who surrendered, the most prominent name is Koyyadi Sambayya alias Azad. Azad had been playing a key strategic role within the Maoist organization for several decades. Apart from him, Abbas Narayan alias Ramesh, who headed the technical team, has also surrendered. Ramesh had been active in the Ramagundam area for a long time.
Around a month ago, Politburo member Venugopal Rao alias Bhupati and Central Committee Member Rupesh had surrendered. A total of 283 Naxalites from Telangana and Chhattisgarh had laid down arms along with them. Since then, major leaders of the Naxal organization have been surrendering one after another.
