Thirty-two surrendered Maoists from Bijapur district, who have left the path of extremism and returned to the mainstream of society, have now taken an important step toward development and self-employment. All of them have successfully completed a one-month specialized training in poultry and goat farming at the Regional Self-Employment Training Institute in Jagdalpur. Through this training, the former Naxalites not only learned scientific methods of animal husbandry but also understood the nuances of becoming successful entrepreneurs.
During the intensive one-month training, the surrendered Maoists were provided with comprehensive information on poultry and goat farming. They were trained in selecting advanced breeds, feed management and balanced nutrition, vaccination, identifying and treating diseases, and strategies to avail government schemes, secure loans, and market their products effectively.
Expressing his happiness, one of the surrendered Maoists said that life in the forest was very difficult and empty. He appreciated the innovative rehabilitation policy initiated by the state’s Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai to reintegrate surrendered Maoists into mainstream society. “Now, by working with our own hands, we can provide a stable and dignified livelihood for our families. This initiative by the government has given us great encouragement,” he added.
