Tatanagar-Bilaspur Express Cancelled Until January 14 Due to Non-Interlocking Work

The South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced the cancellation of the Tatanagar–Bilaspur–Tatanagar Express (Train Nos. 18113/18114) until January 14. The decision comes in the wake of ongoing non-interlocking works aimed at improving operational safety and efficiency on the route. Passengers are advised to make alternative travel arrangements during this period.

According to an official statement from the South Eastern Railway, the temporary suspension of train services is necessary to carry out essential non-interlocking work, which involves upgrading and securing signaling systems at critical junctions. The project is part of broader modernization and safety enhancement initiatives across the railway network.

In addition, the Bilaspur division of the South East Central Railway (SECR) has scheduled repair work on the level crossing at Devgawa Road (Gate Number BK-82) situated between Birsinghpur and Naurozabad stations. The crossing will remain closed to road traffic from 8 PM on January 9 until 8 AM on January 10.

Railway authorities have urged road users to cooperate during this closure and utilize an alternative route provided via an underpass located between the two stations at Kilometer 948/03-05. This arrangement is intended to minimize disruption to daily commuters and maintain traffic flow.

Railway officials emphasized that these maintenance works are critical to preventing operational delays and accidents. “Safety and efficiency remain our top priorities. While we regret the inconvenience caused to passengers, these measures are essential for long-term service reliability,” said a senior SER spokesperson.

Passengers with bookings on the Tatanagar–Bilaspur Express are advised to check with the railway helpline or official website for updated schedules and alternative travel options. Refunds and rescheduling facilities are being made available as per standard railway guidelines.

Historically, non-interlocking work and track maintenance have been crucial for reducing signal failures and enhancing train punctuality. Experts note that such temporary disruptions, though inconvenient, significantly improve operational standards and commuter safety once completed.

With completion expected by January 14, normal train services between Tatanagar and Bilaspur are likely to resume immediately afterward, restoring connectivity for daily passengers, business travelers, and long-distance commuters.
