Three Arrested in Janjgir-Champa House Burglary; Gold and Silver Jewelry Recovered

Janjgir-Champa police have apprehended three individuals involved in a burglary at a vacant house in Anand Vihar Colony, Seoni. Among the accused is a goldsmith who purchased the stolen items. The suspects were arrested from different locations in Korba district, and the stolen gold and silver jewelry, which had been melted, has been recovered.
The victim, Dhaniram Devangan, filed a complaint with Chhampa police on November 8, stating that he and his family had gone to attend his nephew’s Dashgatra ceremony. Upon returning home around 10:30 PM, they found the house lock broken, belongings scattered, and gold and silver jewelry missing from the almirah.
CCTV Footage Leads to Arrests
Following the report, police reviewed CCTV footage from the area. Using technical evidence, they detained Satyaprakash Mahant and Mohan Minz from Korba district. During questioning, the two confessed to committing the theft along with three other accomplices.
Jewelry Sold to Goldsmith; Melted Items Seized
The suspects revealed that they had sold the stolen jewelry to goldsmith Anil Kale. Acting on this information, police arrested Kale, recovering 180 grams of melted silver, 7 grams of melted gold, and equipment used for melting the jewelry.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
The arrested individuals have been identified as Satyaprakash Mahant (19, Wednesday Chowk, Korba), goldsmith Anil Kale (44, Ramsagar Para, Korba), and Mohan Minz (24, Nehru Nagar Kua, Korba). All three have been sent to judicial custody. Police are continuing the search for the remaining three absconding suspects involved in the case.
