Three Die Under Suspicious Circumstances During Occult Ritual; Tantrik Had Promised to Turn ₹5 Lakh Into ₹2.5 Crore

Three men died under mysterious circumstances during an alleged occult ritual in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district. Late Wednesday night, the bodies of scrap dealer Ashraf Memon, Suresh Sahu from Tulsi Nagar, and Nitish Kumar from Durg were found inside a room at a scrap yard in Barbuspur. Although the incident occurred in the Urga police station limits, Civil Lines police are investigating.

Tantrik Promised to Multiply Money Through Ritual

Initial investigation revealed that a self-proclaimed tantrik, Rajendra Kumar from Bilaspur, arrived in Korba on Wednesday night with three associates. He allegedly claimed that through occult practices, he could convert ₹5 lakh into ₹2.5 crore an amount that would later be shared among the group.

Victims Were Called Into the Room One by One

Around 11 pm, the so-called ritual began inside the scrap yard. Rajendra Kumar reportedly called the three men into a separate room one by one. Each was given a lemon, a circle was drawn on the floor with a rope, and they were asked to sit inside it. The rooms were then locked from outside, with the tantrik claiming they would be opened after 30 minutes to an hour.

All Three Found Dead Inside the Room

When the locks were finally opened after the designated time, all three men were found lying dead. Panic spread among the people present, who immediately informed the police. Before officers arrived, the victims were rushed to the hospital  where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Ashwani Kurre, an associate of Rajendra who had accompanied him from Bilaspur, claimed he had no idea how the deaths occurred. He insisted that the men died after the ritual, but could not explain the cause.

Tantrik Arrested, One Associate Absconding

Following the incident, Rajendra fled the scene but was later arrested. Police are still searching for one of his associates. Local residents, angered by the mysterious deaths, thrashed Ashwani Kurre before handing him over to police.

Possible Poisoning, Says Police

Korba CSP Bhushan Ekka said that initial evidence points to possible poisoning, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report. A forensic team inspected the site and sealed the scrap yard for investigation.

Police are questioning Rajendra Kumar and his team to determine whether this was a case of occult fraud or a deliberate conspiracy.
