Mahasamund triple murder case shocks Chhattisgarh as three separate killings linked to family disputes and drunken violence lead to arrests.
Three separate murder cases in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district have shocked the region, with police arresting multiple accused in connection with the crimes. Each case reveals a disturbing pattern of violence triggered by alcohol abuse, personal grudges, and escalating family disputes.
Case 1: Father and Younger Son Kill Elder Son
The first case came to light on April 9, 2026, when a body was discovered inside a well near a forest area close to a poultry farm. The corpse was tied in a sack with stones attached, apparently to keep it submerged.
During investigation, police identified the deceased as 27-year-old Satyanarayan Dhruv, who had been missing for nearly a month. Initial questioning of the family raised suspicions, and under intense interrogation, the truth emerged.
According to police, Satyanarayan was addicted to alcohol and frequently assaulted family members while intoxicated. On the night of March 6, he allegedly got into a violent argument with his mother. In a sudden outburst, his younger brother attacked him using a heavy grinding stone, killing him on the spot.
Later, their father, Mahesh Dhruv, returned home and, instead of informing the police, chose to conceal the crime. Together, the father and younger son packed the body into a sack, transported it on a motorcycle, and dumped it into a secluded well. The father has been arrested and sent to judicial custody, while the minor has been presented before the juvenile court.
Case 2: Friends Murder Youth Over Verbal Abuse
In another incident reported on April 6, the body of a young man was found in a forested area in a severely injured condition. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Prakash Patel from Khaira village.
The body bore multiple injuries on the face, neck, and chest, and a cloth was found tied around his neck. Police registered a murder case and began investigating unknown suspects.
Interrogation of the victim’s acquaintances led to crucial leads. Police detained three suspects identified as Chandrhas Netam alias Kaju, Gopal Pradhan, and Jalandhar Sonwani. During questioning, all three confessed to the crime.
Investigators revealed that the accused and the victim were friends who often consumed alcohol together. About a month prior, the victim had allegedly abused them while intoxicated, sparking resentment. Seeking revenge, the trio lured him to a forest on the night of April 5 and brutally attacked him using a glass bottle and stones, resulting in his death. The accused fled and hid in a nearby district before being apprehended by police.
Case 3: Family Dispute Turns Fatal
The third incident occurred in the Saraipali police station area, where a heated family dispute led to a fatal stabbing. The victim, 53-year-old Anwar Khan, was attacked in broad daylight on April 11.
According to police, the conflict stemmed from a complicated domestic situation. Anwar Khan’s elder son had married a woman three years ago, and the couple had two children. However, the woman reportedly left her husband around eight months ago and began living with another man.
On April 11, she arrived at her former husband’s home with her current partner Tajuddin and his associate Rakesh Sahu, demanding custody of her elder child. Anwar Khan suggested resolving the matter legally through court intervention, but the argument quickly escalated.
In the midst of the confrontation, Rakesh Sahu allegedly attacked Anwar Khan with a knife. When the victim’s son Ajhar and daughter Shehnaz tried to intervene, they were also injured in the assault. Anwar Khan succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital. Police have taken the main accused into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
