Three Shooters Hired from Jharkhand in Bhilai Firing Case

Police have apprehended Karan Saw, the alleged mastermind behind the Bhilai firing incident, in which Vikas Prajapati narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. According to authorities, Karan had hired three shooters from Jharkhand to avenge the death of his cousin, Shivam Saw, who was killed in January 2024.

The incident occurred in the Jamul police station area. Police said the shooters lured Vikas under the pretext of placing an order for decorations and opened fire in a poorly lit area. Empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. Currently, Jamul police are searching for the shooters in Jharkhand.

Background of the Dispute

Shivam Saw, a 17-year-old class 12 student and Karan Saw’s cousin, was stabbed to death in a road dispute on January 22, 2024. Rahul Prajapati, Vikas’s cousin, is currently in jail in connection with the murder. Following Shivam’s death, Karan allegedly sought revenge, leading to the recent firing incident.

Vikas Prajapati’s brother, Gangadhar Prajapati, stated that threats had been made previously, warning that one family’s loss would be avenged. During the shooting, bullets narrowly missed Vikas, grazing his ear and causing minor injuries from gunpowder.

Police Investigation

Karan Saw admitted during questioning that he orchestrated the firing on November 14, 2025. Due to poor visibility, the shooters failed to hit the intended target. They fled under the cover of darkness.

Authorities noted that Karan’s name had previously surfaced in the Jalebi Chowk firing case, where he had allegedly fired with murderous intent but caused no casualties.

SSP Vijay Agrawal confirmed that the police are investigating the case from multiple angles. Questioning of suspects continues, and raids are being conducted at various locations. The team is also probing Vikas Prajapati’s past disputes and connections to fully understand the incident.

This case underscores ongoing inter-family rivalries in the region and the use of hired shooters in retaliatory violence.
