A big controversy erupted on Monday over religious faith in the Government Nursing College located behind Maharani Hospital. The students started a hunger strike in protest against the removal of the Shiva temple from the college campus and demanded that they would not eat food until the statue of Lord Shiva was re-installed. After hours of dispute, the principal had to withdraw the decision. The statue of Lord Shiva was re-installed at the same place.
According to the information, the matter started when a debate broke out on a religious topic between two students of a particular religion and a Hindu student in the nursing college. When the principal was informed about this, she decided to remove the Shiva temple installed in the campus with the aim of calming the situation. The temple was removed and the statue was placed in another part of the campus. As soon as this information was received, anger spread among the other students. After which all the students united and came out in protest against the decision of the principal.
