Chhattisgarh's daughter and rising powerlifting star Nami Rai Parekh has brought laurels to the state by winning the gold medal in the 57 kg senior category (classic powerlifting, deadlift) at the Asia Pacific Championship held in Japan. She was given a grand welcome at Swami Vivekananda Airport on her return to Raipur on Wednesday evening.
Nami Rai Parekh expressed her happiness after winning the gold medal and said that I am very happy to win the gold medal. This is the result of my six years of hard work. Six months ago, I won the gold medal in the National Championship, after which I was selected at the international level. Now I feel proud to win the gold medal here too.
She further said that my gold medal streak is not going to stop here. My goal is to break records by winning gold medals in international games in the future too.
Nami inspired the daughters of the state and said that whatever sport you like, move forward with full hard work and dedication. I have brought the gold medal as a daughter-in-law, so daughters can do even better.
Nami described the support of her family as the basis of her success. She said that I got a lot of support from my family. I appeal to all parents to support their children and encourage them to move forward.
