The court has sentenced two accused of rape to 20 years each. At the same time, they have been punished with a fine of Rs 1500 each. For not paying the fine amount, an additional sentence of 1 month each was given. Special Judge Vinay Kumar Pradhan gave this verdict while hearing two different cases.
Special Public Prosecutor Vimala Tandi said that Rahul Singh (27 years), a resident of Kumhari district Durg, had abducted a 14-year-old girl living in Urla police station area on 18 February 2024. Also raped her in Atari (Kumhari). When the girl went missing, her family members complained to Urla police station, where a crime was registered against the accused youth and he was arrested.
Similarly, a 16-year-old girl living in Vidhansabha Chowki area was abducted by Rakesh Tandon (27 years), a resident of BSUP Saddu, in September 2021. When the girl did not return home, her elder mother lodged a complaint at the Vidhan Sabha Chowki. After the death of the girl's parents, she lived with them. She became pregnant due to rape by the accused youth and gave birth to a girl. Considering the seriousness of both the cases, the special judge has sentenced the accused to 20 years of imprisonment each.
