A tractor driver, who lost an ear in an accident, halted a ration truck insisting on compensation for his treatment expenses.
A year ago, a tractor driver injured in a collision with a PDS truck stopped a truck loaded with ration at Ghumra Padar. Even after a paper agreement, the transporter is accused of not paying the 83 thousand rupees spent on treatment. The tractor driver says that now he will return the truck only after making compensation.
Hora Transporter's truck, which went to drop ration at the ration shop located at Ghumra Padar in Amlipar tehsil late on Sunday evening, was stopped by local tractor driver Jitendra Nagesh. The driver and porters were sent back empty-handed without unloading the ration. The truck has been parked near the Ghumra Padar ration shop since 7 pm, around which tractor driver Jitendra kept guard throughout the night. Late night, the transporter's agent tried to talk to Jitendra and release the truck, but Jitendra is adamant on the demand of compensation of 83 thousand rupees spent on treatment. Along with Jitendra, his community and villagers are also supporting him.
On 20 September 2024, Hora Transporter's truck had come to unload the ration. After unloading the truck, it was unable to move ahead from the PDS shop. Jitendra Nagesh's tractor was used. Jitendra was pulling the truck with the tractor and pushing it ahead. After moving some distance, the truck came back. The tractor overturned after being hit by the truck, the driver Ghanshyam was holding it. He was admitted to Raipur in a critical condition. His left ear was cut in the accident. He got more than 10 stitches on his head.
The villagers had held the truck hostage for 5 days
After the accident, there was anger in the entire village and the Pandra Mali community. After the incident, the villagers held the truck full of ration hostage from September 20. Seeing the uproar of the community and the villagers, the administration had made a mutual agreement after several rounds of meetings. Then the transporter had agreed to pay the amount spent on treatment by making a stamp agreement.
The amount was not paid so the money was stopped
Jitendra Nagesh said that more than two and a half lakhs were spent on the treatment. Apart from Ayushman card and other government expenses, 83 thousand rupees were spent from home. This money was arranged by the wife by selling her jewellery. The same 83 thousand rupees were demanded several times, but the transport has been making excuses for the last one year. The money was not given as per the agreement. He said that he will not let the truck go until the cost is reimbursed.
Here, transport representative Judge Kumar Sinha said that all the expenses were borne from the Ayushman card. Other expenses were also reimbursed. Information about the truck mortgage has been given to the department.
