Tragic Accident at Maroda Dam Picnic: Two Youths Drown

A heartbreaking incident occurred at Maroda Dam in Durg district, Chhattisgarh, where two out of four friends who had gone for a picnic drowned. The tragedy took place on Tuesday in the Newai police station area when the youths ventured into deep water while bathing.

According to reports, four friends from Hathkhoj in the Bhilai-3 police station area had gone to Maroda Dam for a picnic. After having lunch, two of them — Sahil and Junaid — entered the water to bathe. However, unaware of the depth and current of the dam, both were swept away and drowned.

Upon receiving the information, Newai police reached the spot and promptly pulled the youths out of the dam. They were taken to the nearest primary health center, where doctors declared them dead.

Local authorities have informed the families of the deceased. Police are investigating the matter and have appealed to the public to exercise extreme caution and follow safety rules when entering any water body or dam.
