Trailer and Tanker Collide in Korba; Drivers Trapped in Cabins, Police Conduct Rescue

Two separate road accidents took place in Korba district between the night of 23 November and the morning of 24 November. In both incidents, a trailer and a diesel tanker collided, leaving the drivers trapped inside their damaged cabins. Police carried out rescue operations and rushed the injured to the hospital, where one driver is reported to be in critical condition.

The first accident occurred late on 23 November near the Sonpuri bridge on the Sarvmangla–Kanveri road. A coal-laden trailer crashed into a stationary breakdown trailer parked along the roadside. The impact was so severe that the coal-loaded trailer’s cabin was crushed, trapping the driver inside the steering area.

Upon receiving the alert, local villagers and Sarvmangla police reached the spot. With their help, the trapped driver was pulled out of the mangled cabin and taken to the hospital immediately.

Second Collision Between Trailer and Diesel Tanker

The second accident occurred around 8 a.m. on 24 November under Urga police station limits on the Kanveri main road. A trailer carrying ash collided head-on with a diesel tanker, again trapping the trailer driver inside his cabin.

Police soon arrived and used a JSEB vehicle to move the tanker and free the cabin. Sarvmangla outpost in-charge Vibhav Tiwari confirmed that both injured drivers have been hospitalized, and one remains in serious condition.

Residents Troubled by Dust and Road Safety Issues

Local residents said that heavy vehicle movement on this route is extremely high. The absence of streetlights and frequent parking of heavy vehicles along the roadside often lead to accidents. Continuous coal and ash transportation also causes dust pollution, making visibility poor and contributing to frequent mishaps.
