A speeding truck loaded with iron ore rammed into a motorcycle in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district, killing one youth on the spot and leaving another critically injured. The injured man is a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel who was on leave and had returned to his village. The accident occurred around 8 pm on Wednesday near the Danitola bus stand under Balod police station limits.

According to the police, Nitish Kumar (24), a resident of Kusumkasa, and BSF jawan Kameshwar Tumreki (37) were riding back to their village from Durg when the truck, heading from Bhanupratappur towards Raipur, struck their bike with great force.

The impact was so severe that Nitish Kumar died on the spot. Kameshwar Tumreki sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital with the help of passers-by, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Angered by the incident, local residents staged a road blockade for nearly two hours, disrupting traffic. They demanded the installation of speed breakers and CCTV cameras near the school to prevent such accidents in the future. The protesters also sought adequate compensation for the victim’s family. Police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd after holding discussions with the villagers.
