Two More Arrested in Kalyan College Disturbance Case; Accused Disrupted Administrative Work, Assaulted Principal

Police have arrested two additional individuals in connection with a violent incident at Kalyan Postgraduate College, Sector-7, Bhilai, where students allegedly created a ruckus, assaulted the principal, and obstructed official work. The accused, Atul Kumar Chaudhary (19) of Khursipar and Ketan Tiwari (23) of Nehru Nagar, Supela, were previously at large but have now been taken into custody and sent to judicial remand.

According to Bhilainagar police station officials, the incident occurred on December 9, 2025, during routine administrative work related to verification and signing of examination forms in the principal’s office. A group of former students, led by Akash Kannaujia, along with associates including Deepak Pal, Anand Yadav, Nitesh Gupta, Ashish Kalo, Bhaumit Patel, and Anshul Sharma, entered the college premises without authorization.

The accused reportedly verbally abused the principal, broke the glass on the office table, and threw official documents, some of which were torn or defaced with ink. They also allegedly attempted to force the principal to wear a garland of shoes and smeared ink over his nameplate. The incident created panic in the college and disrupted all official activities.

Police said the principal filed a formal complaint immediately following the incident, leading to the registration of a case under multiple sections of the law, including obstruction of official duty and criminal mischief. Earlier arrests in this case included NSUI state-level office-bearer Akash Kannaujia and other student leaders.

“After continuous investigation and gathering of technical evidence, the remaining two accused were apprehended and produced before the court,” said Thana Incharge Jitendra Verma. “They have been remanded to judicial custody while further investigation continues.”

The police investigation revealed that the assault and vandalism were premeditated, carried out by individuals opposing administrative procedures, and possibly motivated by political affiliations, as indicated by the involvement of student union leaders.

Authorities have urged educational institutions to enhance campus security and ensure administrative work proceeds without obstruction. The case continues to draw attention due to the involvement of student leaders in violent campus incidents, prompting discussions on student conduct and accountability.
