Two Youths Stabbed While Stopping to Urinate on Village Outskirts; 13 Arrested in Durg

Two young men were injured in a knife attack after a minor dispute escalated into violence on the outskirts of a village under the Dhamdha police station limits in Durg district. The incident occurred on January 3 when the victims were returning to their village after visiting the Sagni Punni fair.

According to police, the two youths had stopped near the village outskirts to relieve themselves when they were confronted by a group of men already present at the spot. The group objected to them urinating there, leading to a brief verbal altercation that quickly turned violent.

Police said the accused, numbering 13, attacked the two youths with knives, leaving both injured. The victims were rushed to a hospital for treatment. One of them was discharged after first aid on the same day, while the condition of the second is now reported to be stable.

Investigations revealed that the accused were standing together as a group and belonged to four different villages under the Nandini police station area. They were also returning from the Sagni Punni fair at the time of the incident. Following the attack, the accused fled the scene, causing panic in the area.

Upon receiving information, police registered a case and launched an immediate investigation. Acting swiftly, police teams traced and arrested all 13 accused the following day, on January 4. Of those arrested, 11 are adults, while two are juveniles.

Police officials said the injured youths are residents of the same village where the incident took place, while the accused were from neighbouring villages. The juveniles have been sent for action under the Juvenile Justice Act, while legal proceedings against the adult accused are underway.

The incident highlights how minor disputes can rapidly escalate into serious violence, prompting police to warn against carrying weapons and engaging in group confrontations.
