Woman Arrested for Supplying Marijuana to Youth in Jagdalpur; 6.09 kg Seized

Bastar Police have arrested a woman allegedly involved in supplying marijuana to youths in Jagdalpur, seizing 6.09 kilograms of illegal cannabis during a targeted raid conducted as part of the district’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive. The accused, identified as Nandini Kashyap (32), is a repeat offender and has previously served jail time under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said.

The arrest was made in the Bodhghat police station area following a tip-off from a confidential informant. According to police officials, the information indicated that the woman was storing marijuana at her residence in the Nayamunda locality near a Marwari shop and was waiting for customers to sell the contraband.

Acting swiftly on the input, a police team led by Station House Officer Lilandhar Rathore conducted a raid at the accused’s house. During the search, officers recovered a black bag containing five packets wrapped in khaki-colored tape. On examination, the packets were found to contain 6.09 kg of marijuana, with an estimated market value of Rs 3.04 lakh.

Police said the accused failed to produce any legal authorization or documents related to possession or sale of the substance. The seized narcotics were taken into custody as per legal procedure.

“The woman was actively involved in supplying marijuana, particularly to young people in the city. Based on evidence and seizure, action was taken under the NDPS Act,” a police official said.

A case has been registered against Nandini Kashyap under Section 20(B)(1)(B) of the NDPS Act. She was formally arrested on February 2, 2026, and produced before the Special NDPS Court, which remanded her to judicial custody. She has since been sent to jail.

Police officials confirmed that the accused had earlier been arrested in a similar narcotics case, indicating repeated involvement in drug trafficking activities. Investigators are now probing her supply network to identify potential links and buyers in the region.

Bastar Police reiterated their commitment to curbing drug circulation and warned that strict action would continue against individuals involved in narcotics trade, particularly those targeting youth.
