This year’s theme, “Measurements for Everyone, Every Time”, emphasized the role of transparency and scientific accuracy in measurement for maintaining social and environmental balance.
Minister Baghel Highlights Importance of Accurate Measurement
The chief guest of the event, Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel, said, “A proper measurement system is the backbone of consumer protection. The monitoring and innovation being carried out by the Legal Metrology Department is highly commendable.”
Inspectors Honored for Outstanding Performance
On this occasion, Minister Baghel also honored inspectors of the Legal Metrology Department for their exceptional performance during the financial year 2024–25. These officials made significant contributions to safeguarding consumer interests and achieving high revenue collection across the state.
Exhibition and Awareness Session Organized
A special exhibition of legal measuring instruments was also held, showcasing various types of measurement tools. Additionally, dedicated consumer awareness sessions and feedback interactions were conducted to educate and engage attendees.
Digital Transformation in Measurement System
Legal Metrology Controller Devendra Singh Bhardwaj informed that the department regularly inspects shops, petrol pumps, and packaged goods to ensure the protection of consumer rights. He also shared insights into the department’s upcoming initiatives, particularly focusing on digital measurement systems.
Moving Towards a More Transparent and Technical System
The event highlighted that the state government and the department are working towards making the measurement system more technologically advanced and transparent. This move is expected to strengthen consumer rights and trust, while also boosting revenue collection and standardization.
