Bhilai, Durg: A 24-year-old man, Saurabh Sonkar, resident of Rajiv Nagar, Bhilai, was found dead at his home after committing suicide by hanging on Thursday night. The youth had spent the day playing Holi with his family and friends, but later his body was discovered hanging inside his house.
Discovery and Hospital Response
According to reports, when family members and friends discovered Saurabh, they immediately took him to a private hospital in Bhilai. After examination, doctors declared him dead on arrival. A crowd gathered outside the hospital, creating a tense atmosphere as relatives and acquaintances tried to process the shocking incident. The family initially planned to move the body to another hospital but later kept it at the hospital mortuary.
Post-Mortem and Investigation
Family members informed that the post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday morning at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Supela.
Police teams from Supela and Vaishali Nagar police stations arrived at the hospital upon receiving the news. Investigators also visited Saurabh’s home to examine the scene and questioned neighbors and witnesses.
At present, the reason behind the suicide remains unknown. Police are questioning family members and close associates as part of the ongoing investigation. A Murder/Accidental/Report of Grievous Death (MARG) case has been registered, and authorities stated that the circumstances leading to Saurabh’s death will be clarified only after the investigation is completed.

The incident has left the local community and family members in shock, especially as it occurred immediately after the Holi festivities. Authorities have urged calm and assured that the investigation will be conducted thoroughly to determine the exact reasons behind the young man’s suicide.
