Young Man Killed in Bhilai Road Accident: Head-On Collision Between Sumo and Pickup, Overspeeding Cited as Cause

A tragic road accident on the Nandini–Khundni road in Durg district claimed the life of a young man after a head-on collision between a Tata Sumo and a vegetable-laden pickup vehicle. The impact was so severe that the Sumo driver was trapped inside the vehicle and died on the spot. The incident occurred within the limits of Nandini police station.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar Bandhe (23), a resident of Girhola village. On Sunday evening, Aman was traveling from Ahiwara to Dhamdha in his Sumo when a pickup vehicle coming from the opposite direction at high speed rammed into his car near Nandini–Khundni.
Eyewitnesses said both vehicles were moving at a very high speed, which led to the violent collision. The front portion of the Sumo was completely crushed due to the impact. Upon receiving information, the Nandini police rushed to the spot.
Driver Pulled Out With Help of Locals
With the help of local residents, the police managed to pull the driver out of the mangled vehicle, but he had already succumbed to his injuries. The police prepared the inquest report and sent the body to the mortuary. After post-mortem on Monday, the body will be handed over to the family.
Frequent Accidents on This Route
Nandini police station in-charge Paras Thakur said that after the collision, the pickup vehicle veered off the road. Both vehicles have been seized, and a case has been registered with an investigation underway.
Meanwhile, local residents have expressed serious concern over the frequent accidents on the Nandini–Khundni road. They have urged the administration to implement strict safety measures and effective speed control to prevent further mishaps.
