Youth Congress to Write Letters in Blood in Raigarh to Protest Rising Pollution

Amid growing concerns over worsening pollution levels in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, the Youth Congress has announced a symbolic protest programme titled “Letter Written in Blood” to draw attention to the environmental and public health crisis in the region.

The programme is scheduled to be held at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk on Monday from 11.30 am onwards, where Youth Congress workers and local residents will gather to express their opposition to unchecked industrial pollution. As part of the protest, participants will write letters using their blood on plain paper, which will be sent to the President of India, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and concerned administrative authorities.

Youth Congress district president Ashish Jaiswal said the initiative is aimed at highlighting the severe impact of toxic emissions and chemical particles released by industries in and around Raigarh. “This is a symbolic form of protest to make people aware of the dangers posed by rising pollution and to urge the administration to take concrete steps to protect public health,” he said.

In preparation for the programme, the Youth Congress has been conducting an awareness drive across the city over the past three to four days. According to organisers, around 5,000 pamphlets have been printed and distributed in various neighbourhoods to mobilise public participation and inform residents about the protest.

The letters written during the programme will be dispatched through the postal department to the concerned authorities, organisers said, adding that the objective is to press for immediate and effective measures to curb pollution and safeguard the health of Raigarh’s residents.

Raigarh has been witnessing persistent complaints about hazardous industrial emissions, with residents alleging that air quality deterioration is affecting daily life and increasing health risks.
