‘Danger Bell’ of Cold in MP: Cold Wave–Cold Day Alert for Next Two Days, Several Districts Including the Capital in Grip

The biting cold in Madhya Pradesh is moving toward its peak. A cold wave swept across the state for the second consecutive day, affecting several districts including the capital Bhopal. Kalyanpur in Shahdol became the coldest place, recording just 4.3°C, setting a new mark. The Meteorological Department has issued a Cold Wave and Cold Day alert for the next two days. Due to the impact of a western disturbance, the cold is likely to intensify further in the coming days.

Weather for the Next Two Days

According to meteorologists, snowfall and rain in the hill states—Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have triggered icy winds that are sweeping across Madhya Pradesh and causing severe cold.

Most affected divisions:

  • Bhopal

  • Gwalior

  • Chambal

  • Ujjain

  • Sagar

Cold winds blowing throughout the day are pushing day temperatures even lower.

Cold Day and Cold Wave Alerts Issued for These Districts

Cold Day Alert:
  • Indore

  • Shajapur

  • Narsinghpur

  • Dhar

Cold Wave Alert:
  • Bhopal

The weather department has said that a sharp drop in daytime temperature along with strong northern winds will continue for the next two days.

 Kalyanpur Coldest – 20+ Districts Fall Below 10°C

A record fall in temperature was observed last night.
Here’s the temperature status from coldest to other major districts:

  • Kalyanpur (Shahdol): 4.3°C

  • Pachmarhi: 5.4°C

  • Umaria: 6.1°C

  • Rajgarh: 6.6°C

  • Rewa: 6.8°C

  • Bhopal: 7°C (5°C below normal)

  • Malajkhand: 7.1°C

  • Mandla: 7.4°C

  • Khajuraho: 7.8°C

  • Indore–Gwalior–Chhindwara: 8.4°C

  • Jabalpur–Raisen: 8.6°C

  • Betul: 8.7°C

  • Satna: 9.3°C

  • Sheopur–Sidhi–Damoh: 9.4°C

More than 20 districts in the state recorded temperatures below 10°C, clearly indicating that the severe cold will continue to trouble residents for the next several days.
