‘Tanvi the Great’ Declared Tax-Exempt in Madhya Pradesh; CM Mohan Yadav Attends Special Screening
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced on Tuesday that the Hindi film Tanvi the Great will be exempted from state entertainment tax, citing its impactful narrative and social relevance. The announcement followed a special screening of the film at Cinepolis, DB Mall, Bhopal, attended by key members of the cast, including veteran actor Anupam Kher and lead actress Shubhangi Dutt.
Addressing the media after the screening, Dr. Yadav emphasized the role of cinema in advancing social awareness. “Imposing tax on a film that addresses such a meaningful issue would be contrary to the responsibilities of a socially conscious government,” he stated.
Tanvi the Great presents the story of a young autistic girl, Tanvi, and her determination to fulfill her late father’s dream of joining the Indian Army. The film portrays Tanvi’s personal journey, her evolving bond with her grandfather Colonel Raina (played by Anupam Kher), and her pursuit of a goal inspired by patriotism and resilience.
In a statement, Anupam Kher highlighted the film’s foundation in real-life events and praised its ability to motivate younger audiences. “This is not a typical Bollywood story—it is based on truth, and it underscores how resolve and self-belief can overcome adversity,” he remarked.
Shubhangi Dutt revealed that the role required extensive preparation. As part of her character research, she undertook six months of training to accurately reflect the emotional depth of Tanvi’s experience.
The film, which released nationwide on July 18, features supporting performances by Kirron Kher, Arvind Swami, Karan Tacker, and others. The narrative spans locations in Delhi and Uttarakhand, incorporating themes of family, sacrifice, and national service.
