Anuppur,MP
A modern suspension bridge adorned with contemporary amenities has been constructed at the sacred Ramghat on the banks of River Narmada in Amarkantak, a renowned pilgrimage site in Madhya Pradesh. The bridge connects the northern and southern banks of the Narmada, easing movement for devotees and tourists. It has been built under the Union Tourism Ministry’s PRASAD scheme.
Built at a Cost of ₹10 Crore, Final Touches Underway
Constructed by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, the bridge cost approximately ₹10 crore. Currently, decorative lighting with colorful LEDs is in the final stage. At night, the bridge will offer a visually stunning view. Electrical testing is expected to be completed by the end of June.
Responsibility to Be Handed Over to Local Council
According to Sompal Singh Lodhi, Assistant Engineer of the Shahdol Division of the Tourism Corporation, the construction is complete and the bridge will soon be handed over to the Amarkantak Municipal Council. It will be opened to the public in June, and the local administration will fix a fee for maintenance and access.
A New Boost to Tourism
In addition to the suspension bridge, new viewing points and a glass bridge have been developed at Sonmuda and Kapildhara. These modern additions are expected to enhance both religious significance and tourism potential in Amarkantak. Visitors will now be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of the ghats and the serene flow of the Narmada directly from the bridge.
