Canal Collapses in 6 Months, Farmers Suffer

A newly built canal worth crores collapsed within six months, destroying farmers' crops. Authorities remain silent as affected villagers demand accountability.

Gross negligence by the Water Resources Department has been exposed in Kudeli village, under the Budhar Janpad Panchayat. A 3-kilometer-long canal, built at a cost of crores of rupees, collapsed within just six months. The canal collapse not only destroyed crores of rupees in water, but also ruined the crops of several surrounding villages.

Main Source of Water for Agriculture
Villagers say that this canal, built at a cost of approximately one crore rupees, was the main source of water for agriculture, but due to poor and substandard construction, it collapsed within a few months. The situation is such that farmers are unable to access water from the canal for irrigation, sabotaging both their hard work and hopes.

Negligence and Corruption in Construction

Villagers allege widespread negligence and corruption in the construction work. They accuse the responsible officials and contractors of using substandard materials. They say that if the construction work had been carried out with transparency and integrity, the canal, built at a cost of crores, would not have collapsed so quickly.

A high-level investigation into the matter and action against the culprits.
The most shocking thing about this matter is that the Water Resources Department and the responsible officials have remained silent. The damage caused to the farmers by the canal breach has not been assessed, nor has any action been taken. Villagers have demanded a high-level investigation into this matter and strict action against the culprits, so that such negligence does not result in future losses to farmers' hard work and the government treasury.
