Drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh police, in a major statewide campaign against drug trafficking, has seized narcotics and vehicles worth Rs 83.95 lakh in the month of October 2025, and has arrested several traffickers involved in the illicit trade. The drive forms part of the police department’s sustained efforts to dismantle the roots of drug networks across the state, a statement issued by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ)
Mandsaur police leads anti-narcotics operations
A majority of the drug rackets were busted in the Mandsaur district of the state. The Mandsaur Police have undertaken a series of decisive actions against interstate drug smugglers this month.
- Narayangarh Police Station arrested two interstate traffickers transporting narcotics in a luxury car. The police recovered 286 kg of illegal poppy husk valued at Rs 5.72 lakh and seized the car, bringing the total value of confiscated goods to Rs 30.72 lakh.
- Shamgarh Police apprehended one Prahlad Singh, recovering 131 kg of poppy husk worth Rs 2.62 lakh from his SUV car, estimated to be close to Rs 6 lakh.
- Piplia Mandi Police arrested another trafficker involved in smuggling alprazolam and poppy husk, seizing contraband, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone together valued at Rs 3.6 lakh
The consistent actions by Mandsaur Police have dealt a major blow to regional drug trafficking networks.
Decisive action taken by Guna police
In another significant operation, the Fatehgarh Police Station in MP’s Guna District arrested a trafficker transporting 25.8 grams of smack worth Rs 2.5 lakh from Rajasthan. The smuggler’s motorcycle used in trafficking was also seized. This operation disrupted an active interstate drug supply chain.
Statewide campaign goes on at a rapid pace in other districts too
Alongside Guna and Mandsaur, police units from Agar Malwa, Shivpuri, Ratlam, Shajapur, Ujjain, Sidhi, Indore Rural, Katni, Morena, Ashoknagar, Rewa, Neemuch, and Narsinghpur districts of the state have also reported seizures involving drugs such as cannabis (ganja), smack, opium, poppy husk, and MDMA.
The Madhya Pradesh Police affirmed that the anti-drug campaign will continue across the state, reinforcing their commitment to building a healthier society and safeguarding youth from the dangers of addiction.
