A Forest Department report reveals a rise in wild elephants establishing permanent residence in the Vindhya and Bandhavgarh forests of Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the region’s growing appeal as a natural habitat.

The forests of Madhya Pradesh are now suitable for wild elephants. After about 100 years, elephants are permanently present in the state. This has been revealed in the report of the Forest Department. Wild elephants are increasing their permanent residence in the forests of Vindhya and Bandhavgarh. Apart from this, the movement of elephants has increased in the forests of Mahakaushal including Mandla, Dindori.
After the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a detailed action plan is being prepared in the name of Elephant Project for elephants. Recently, the Chief Minister also held a meeting with the officials of the Forest Department regarding this. In this, in view of the movement of wild elephants in Madhya Pradesh, the CM approved a management plan of Rs 47.12 crore.
Now a plan will also be prepared for the elephants living permanently in the state. Rapid response teams will be formed to deal with elephant attacks. According to the data of the Forest Department, more than 140 wild elephants are present in the forests of Vindhya. The state government will develop elephant friendly environment for permanent residence of elephants in the forests of Madhya Pradesh.
