High Court Waives Life Sentence After Settlement, Orders Release of Accused from Jail

In a significant judgment, the High Court has waived a convict’s life sentence following a settlement with the victim. The court ordered the immediate release of the accused, sparking legal and public debate.

The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has pardoned the life sentence of the accused of attempted murder. Along with this, orders have been given to release the accused lodged in Central Jail. The High Court has also ordered to give 50 thousand rupees to the victim. There has been a settlement between the accused and the victim in the attempted murder case. The High Court has granted pardon on the initiative of the victim. The High Court has ordered the release of accused Bunty Kansana lodged in Gwalior Central Jail.

Actually the incident took place on 03 April 2021 in Madhoganj. Bunty had fired for demanding liquor. Pankaj Chaurasia was injured due to bullet injury. In this case, an FIR was lodged against Bunty in Madhoganj police station for attempted murder. On 13 April 2024, Bunty Kansana was sentenced to life imprisonment. The victim Pankaj has reached a settlement with the accused Bunty.

The court has pardoned Bunty's life imprisonment and ordered to give 50 thousand rupees to the victim. 50,000 each will have to be deposited in the Juvenile Justice Fund and Legal Service Committee. Bunty will have to deposit this amount within two months.
