NHAI empty handed on deadly jam: Changed lawyer in High Court, asked for one more week's time
Indore,M.P
NHAI appeared empty-handed in the High Court regarding the deadly traffic jam case. The authority has changed its lawyer and requested an additional week's time to present its response.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) reached the High Court without any reply even after a week in the case of the 32-hour long deadly jam on the bypass on June 27. In the hearing held on Friday, AP Singh, the new lawyer from Delhi, appeared on behalf of NHAI. He asked the court for one more week to file the power of attorney and reply.
The court has currently given this time, but dismissed two other petitions on similar subjects saying that when a petition is already being heard, the rest of the petitions do not make sense. During the hearing, issues like the poor condition of the bypass, frequent traffic jams, no repair of the road despite toll collection and negligence in maintenance were raised before the division bench of Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Binod Kumar Dwivedi. This PIL has been filed by advocate Tanishq Patel.
