Negligence in Shahdol Gaushala, 5 Cows Dead
Shahdol,M.P
Shahdol Gaushala faces chaos after death of 5 cows; 150 cows left under care of just two employees, raising concerns of mismanagement.
The ambitious Chief Minister Gau Seva Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh government is once again under question. A case of gross negligence has come to light from the Gaushala complex built in Rohniya of Gram Panchayat Baruka in Shahdol district. According to the information, five cows were found dead in the Gaushala this morning, which created a stir in the entire area.
Local villagers say that about 150 cows have been kept in the Gaushala, but only one female and one male employee are appointed to look after them. In such a situation, it is impossible to take care of the cows on such a large scale. The villagers alleged that there is neither regular arrangement of fodder and water in the Gaushala nor do veterinarians come on time. This is the reason why many cows are dying due to diseases and malnutrition.
It is worth noting that the state government claims to spend crores of rupees every year on the operation of Gaushalas. But the ground reality is something else. There is neither adequate staff, nor veterinary facilities nor transparent monitoring system. Complaints have surfaced in Shahdol and several nearby panchayats about embezzling money by making fake bills in the name of fodder and water in cow shelters.
