Pitru Paksha has started from Purnima. In such a situation, people reached the ghats of river reservoirs to offer tarpan to their ancestors. People reached Mishra pond of Raisen from morning to offer tarpan to their ancestors where the Brahmins performed Pitru Tarpan. This process will continue for 16 days till Pitru Moksha Amavasya. During this time, Pitru Shraddha will also be performed according to the date.

According to religious texts, the ancestors are pleased and give blessings only when the Shraddha Paksha is performed with purity and rituals. The use of some metals is prohibited in the Shraddha Paksha, due to which the ancestors get angry.

Rule of feeding Brahmins

As told by Pandit Ashok Shastri, who performs Pitru Tarpan, in this Shraddha Paksha, water is given to the ancestors by coming to the pond river for 16 days. Food is given to Brahmins. Crow, dog and cow are given the favorite food of the ancestors.
