According to police officials, the victim, identified as 35-year-old Prakash Nayak from Dewri village in Shajapur district, had allegedly stolen a car from an Indore-based showroom earlier this month. The incidents has drawn widespread attention after a disturbing video of the assault went viral.
How the Theft Unfolded
Police sources revealed that on April 7, Prakash visited a car showroom named Daily Autodeal in Indore’s MIG police station area. He reportedly requested a test drive but fled with the vehicle instead. Since then, the showroom owner and his associates had been searching for him. Their search eventually led them to Manasa, where Prakash had been living in a rented room for nearly a month.
Girlfriend Used as Bait
In a calculated move, the accused individuals allegedly used Prakash’s female acquaintance, Renuka, to lure him. She called him and asked him to meet at a predetermined location in Manasa.
Unaware of the trap, Prakash arrived at the spot where he was immediately surrounded by a group consisting of three men and three women from Indore.
Brutal Assault in Public
When questioned about the stolen car, Prakash reportedly claimed that he had already sold it. This enraged the group, who then began assaulting him with sticks.
Eyewitnesses stated that the attackers continued beating him mercilessly until he collapsed on the road, bleeding heavily. Despite his desperate pleas for help, bystanders did not intervene and instead watched the incidents. unfold. The attackers fled the scene after the assault. Police Action and Arrests
Manasa police station in-charge Nilesh Awasthi confirmed that six individuals, including three women, have been taken into custody. The accused have been identified as Ehsan, Shubham, and Shekhar, along with Durga, Renuka, and Babita, all residents of Indore.
Prakash, who is currently injured, has also accused his girlfriend Renuka of being part of the conspiracy. Police have initiated a formal investigation and are interrogating the accused to determine the full sequence of events.
