Passengers at Itarsi Railway Station are facing serious inconvenience due to packs of stray dogs roaming across the platforms. The presence of these dogs has caused fear among travelers, and there have been several instances of dogs attacking passengers.
Addressing the issue, Station Superintendent Suvendu Rai said that a letter was sent to the municipal corporation two days ago, requesting immediate action to capture the stray dogs. Responding to this, Municipal Council President Pankaj Chaure stated that tenders had earlier been floated to appoint an agency for catching stray dogs, but no agency has come forward so far.
He added that fresh tenders are now being issued, after which a drive will be carried out to capture stray dogs from both the city and the railway station premises.
It is worth noting that the problem of stray dogs has been a major concern in Itarsi city as well. On September 20, a single stray dog bit more than a dozen people across the city in a single day, creating widespread panic.
From evening till late night, the dog roamed the streets and attacked several residents. A large number of injured people rushed to the Civil Hospital, where on-duty doctor Dr. Vikas Jaitpuriya provided treatment. With more than 20 people bitten in one day, fear gripped the city, and several victims sustained serious injuries.
