AIIMS Medicine Purchase Scam: ₹285 Injection Bought for ₹2100, Delhi Team Probes After MP's Complaint

A major scam has surfaced in AIIMS medicine procurement, where an injection worth ₹285 was purchased for ₹2100. Following an MP's complaint, a Delhi investigation team has arrived to probe the matter.
A case of irregularities in the purchase of medicine from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal has come to light. Actually, Bhopal AIIMS has purchased Gemcitabine injection at Rs 2100 per piece. Whereas this medicine has been purchased by Delhi AIIMS at Rs 285 per piece.
According to the information, a meeting of the Standing Finance Committee was held in Delhi on May 15. In which Bhopal MP Alok Sharma raised this issue. After which the chairperson of the committee and the Union Health Secretary had assured an investigation. At the same time, investigation of this matter has started.
On Thursday, the investigation team from Delhi reached Bhopal AIIMS. Where the Director, Deputy Director Administration and President were questioned for about 4 hours and information about the purchase process was taken. It is alleged that Bhopal AIIMS did not follow the drug purchase rules (GFR 2017) of the Central Government since the Corona period and medicines were purchased directly through Amrit Pharmacy.
