Two-and-a-half-year-old Anika Sharma continues to battle Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type-2, a rare genetic disorder that weakens muscles over time. Her family now faces fresh tension after a recent medical check-up showed her weight climbing steadily. Doctors have warned that the life-saving injection from the United States must be given before she crosses 13.5 kg or turns two years old. Mumbai Stars Lend Support

In a desperate bid to bridge the funding gap, Anika's parents travelled to Mumbai recently. They met several celebrities and recorded appeal videos to speed up donations. According to her mother Sarita Sharma, the family interacted with actor Sonu Sood, veteran star Prem Chopra, social media personality Hindustani Bhau and Hussain Mansuri. Some of the stars agreed to shoot short videos urging the public to help. The parents also waited outside Salman Khan's residence for two to three days but could not meet him.

Anika's latest check-up at Bhopal AIIMS revealed her weight at 10 kg 930 grams, up from 10 kg 500 grams just 15 days earlier. Her overall health has also shown signs of decline, leaving her parents increasingly worried. The injection has to reach her before she crosses the weight threshold, making every passing day critical. The family is trying its best to monitor her diet and condition while continuing the fundraising drive.

Public Donations Sought Urgently

Praveen Sharma has made a direct appeal to the public. He pointed out that if 24,000 people contribute just Rs 1,000 each, the remaining Rs 2.4 crore target can be met quickly. The family has already received overwhelming support from ordinary citizens across Madhya Pradesh and beyond. Camps are scheduled for April 23 in Petlawad and April 25 in Thandla to collect more donations. On April 25 the parents also plan to take Anika to Delhi for further medical evaluation and to finalise treatment arrangements.
