Arbitrariness in MP Private Schools: Complaint Filed in NHRC Over Illegal Fees and Child Rights Violations
Bhopal,M.P
A complaint has been lodged with the National Human Rights Commission against private schools in Madhya Pradesh, accusing them of illegal fee collection and violating children's fundamental rights. The matter has raised serious concerns over regulatory enforcement in the education sector.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee's state spokesperson Vivek Tripathi has complained to the National Human Rights Commission regarding illegal recovery, arbitrariness, commission and violation of fundamental rights of children by private schools of the state.
Tripathi has mentioned in the complaint that most of the private schools of the state are openly doing business in the name of education. Along with arbitrary recovery of admission fee, annual fee, computer fee, smart class fee, building fund from parents, illegal earnings of crores of rupees are being made by taking commission on books, dress, shoes, bags etc.
Collaboration of Education Department and District Administration
Tripathi said that heavy school bags of children are not at all appropriate for their mental and physical health. Despite clear instructions from the government, the school management is changing the number of books and syllabus every year. He alleged that the Education Department and the District Administration are completely colluding in the illegal activities of these schools. Investigation and inspection are limited to papers only. The investigation committee formed by the Bhopal Collector has also not been able to take any concrete action till date.
