In a tragic incident, Rohini Kalam (35), an international Jiu-Jitsu martial arts player from Dewas who had represented India at the Asian Championship, was found dead at her residence on Sunday.

Family Members Were Away at the Time of Incident
At the time of the incident, Rohini’s mother had gone out for a temple visit with another daughter, while her father was also away on work. Preliminary investigation suggests that she took the extreme step when no one was at home.

Having begun her martial arts journey in 2007, she turned professional in 2015, specializing in Jiu-Jitsu, a traditional Japanese martial art. Last year, she made India proud by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in Abu Dhabi.
She also served as the General Secretary of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, contributing actively to the sport’s promotion in India.
