The members of Bajrang Dal, a Hindu outfit, seized a car filled with beef (cow meat) in the early hours of Monday, the police said. Notably, the incident comes two days after another man was found ferrying beef in the Habibganj area of Bhopal. According to the police, the Bajrang Dal workers acted on a tip-off and laid siege to the vehicle. However, the driver managed to escape by abandoning the car at the spot.
Cops scanning CCTV footage
Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the absconding driver. SDOP Chauhan added that efforts are being made to track the suspect and bring him into custody at the earliest. Meanwhile, the recovery has stirred local tensions, with Bajrang Dal activists demanding swift action against those responsible.
Car contained huge quantities of beef
Upon inspection, police recovered cow remains from the car, including a severed head, legs, hide, and more than one quintal of cow meat. The police said they are now investigating the ownership of the seized vehicle to trace those involved in the transportation of the meat. The senior cops said that forensic examination will also be carried out to confirm the nature of the meat.
Police register case
The Parwalia Sadak police seized the vehicle and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified accused. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Manju Chauhan told Bhaskar English that the incident occurred on the road leading from Vidhi Dhaba towards Rangla Punjab Dhaba. Bajrang Dal members attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.
