A key flyover on the Bhopal–Indore State Highway aimed at easing chronic traffic congestion is scheduled for completion within a year, Huzur MLA Rameshwar Sharma said after inspecting multiple infrastructure projects across his constituency on Saturday.
Sharma reviewed the progress of the six-lane flyover under construction at Bairagarh at an estimated cost of ₹305 crore. Officials were directed to expedite shifting of sewage lines and streetlights and to widen service roads to ensure smooth traffic flow once the project is operational. A junction is also being developed at Fanda to allow uninterrupted vehicle movement and reduce bottlenecks on the busy corridor.
During the inspection, the MLA also examined construction work of three foot overbridges (FOBs) intended to improve pedestrian safety along high-traffic stretches. He assessed the flyover being built on Phatak Road, where railway authorities informed that work under their jurisdiction would be completed by March–April. Sharma instructed officials to strengthen the drainage system beneath the structure to prevent waterlogging.
The MLA later visited the Sant Hirdaram Rose Garden in Bairagarh, announcing plans to expand the facility. He said the garden has emerged as a popular public space for residents and that water-based recreational activities are proposed to begin next month.
Infrastructure development in surrounding areas was also reviewed. Sharma inspected pond beautification and rest ghat reconstruction works in Bhaunri, identified land for an electrical substation in Bairagarh village, and directed officials to speed up electrification and road construction in newly developed settlements.
At the Bhopal Bypass junction, Sharma reviewed the six-lane bypass flyover project, which is targeted for completion by December 2026. The project is expected to significantly ease traffic towards Indore and Ujjain.
The MLA also inspected panchayat-led commercial projects in Mugalia Chhap aimed at generating local employment, along with housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Kalkheda. He emphasized timely completion, quality construction, and basic civic amenities, including drinking water and approach roads.
