Family Returning from Wedding Brutally Attacked in Bhopal; Man Shot Multiple Times
In a shocking late-night assault, a family returning from a wedding in Bhopal was brutally attacked, leaving a 28-year-old man with critical gunshot wounds and his wife and sister with stab injuries. The incident, which police suspect is linked to an earlier threat, has sent waves of panic through the Eit Khedi area.
The attack occurred around 11:30 PM on Friday. Danish Ali, a railway parcel contractor, was driving back from a reception with his wife Rimsha, his sister, and their children. According to initial reports, four attackers blocked his car with another vehicle. As the family’s car stopped, the assailants opened fire.
“The first two bullets missed. But later shots hit Danish in the stomach and leg. He was shot two to three times,” a police source stated. As Danish fell critically injured, his wife and sister rushed to save him. In a brutal turn, the attackers then used knives and daggers, stabbing both women on their hands as they tried to intervene.
All three victims were rushed to Chirayu Hospital in Malipura. Danish Ali’s condition remains critical following emergency surgery. His wife and sister sustained injuries to their hands and are receiving treatment. The children in the car were reportedly unharmed but severely traumatized.
Police investigations quickly revealed a potential motive. Sources indicate that Danish Ali had a heated argument with a local figure known as Roosi at a function just a day before, on Thursday. During the clash, threats were allegedly exchanged. “Roosi openly threatened to kill him and said he would ‘teach him a lesson within 24 hours’,” an official familiar with the case noted.
The family has directly accused Shannu Vazandar and the so-called "Russian gang" of carrying out the planned attack. Senior police officials have confirmed that several criminal cases are previously registered against the victim, Danish Ali, which is now a key angle in the probe.
“We have recorded statements and a search is underway to arrest the accused. The incident appears to be a result of a personal rivalry,” said a senior Bhopal police officer. Teams are scouring the area and analyzing CCTV footage to establish the full sequence of events and apprehend the attackers.
The brazen attack on a family, in what appears to be a targeted act of revenge, has raised serious concerns about law and order in the area. The police assure the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
