Bhopal Man Dies by Suicide 7 Months After Love Marriage, Blames Wife in Instagram Video
Bhopal (MP)
Bhopal man suicide case under probe after a 28-year-old alleged harassment by wife and in-laws in an Instagram video before his death.
A 28-year-old Bhopal man died by suicide at a hotel in the Shahpura area on Sunday morning, with police probing an Instagram video in which he accused his wife and in-laws of harassment. The deceased was identified as Vikas Hirwe, a resident of the Habibganj area, who had married seven months ago in what his family described as a love marriage.
According to police, Vikas checked into Konvewell Hotel Palace late on Saturday night. His body was found hanging inside the room on Sunday morning after hotel staff alerted authorities. No suicide note was recovered from the room.
Instagram Video Surfaces
Investigators said the case took a serious turn after the family submitted a video recorded by Vikas before his death. The clip was uploaded to his Instagram account and is now central to the police investigation.
In the video, Vikas identified himself and said he was ending his life by choice. He directly accused his wife, Sneha Solanki, of mentally harassing him and alleged that she repeatedly threatened to implicate him and his family in false cases. He also named his wife’s grandmother, alleging that she pressured Sneha to escalate domestic conflict.
Marriage Under Strain
Family members told police that Vikas and Sneha had frequent disputes in recent weeks. They alleged tensions had intensified over the past 10 days and claimed Sneha had started sending her jewellery, documents and other belongings to her parental home.
In the video, Vikas alleged that despite receiving support and affection from his family, his wife continued to threaten legal action against him and his relatives. He said sustained pressure from his wife and her family pushed him to take the extreme step.
Left Home After Fight
According to relatives, Vikas left home late on Saturday after a minor argument with his wife. He did not inform anyone about his whereabouts. Family members later noticed his final social media post around 3 am and began searching for him.
By the time they reached the hotel, Vikas had already died, sources indicated. His body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family on Sunday afternoon.
Police Begin Probe
Police said they are examining the Instagram video, the couple’s recent communication and statements from family members to establish the sequence of events. Officials said the authenticity of the video and the allegations made in it will be verified as part of the investigation.
A Shahpura police official said no immediate conclusion would be drawn until digital evidence, call records and witness accounts were examined. Statements from the wife and her family are expected to be recorded.
Harassment Angle Examined
The case has drawn attention to the growing number of domestic distress cases involving allegations of emotional abuse, coercion and threats of legal action. While the allegations in the video remain under investigation, police are treating the content as a crucial piece of evidence.
As per reports, investigators are likely to examine whether there was sustained mental harassment and whether any abetment angle emerges during the inquiry.
Investigation Continues
Police have not registered charges so far and said further action will depend on forensic findings and witness statements. The investigation is expected to focus on the couple’s relationship, recent disputes and the circumstances leading to the death.
