Bhopal Metro’s Two Routes Likely to Receive Budget Allocation; Road Projects Also in Focus

Bhopal is expected to receive budget allocations for two metro routes in the upcoming fiscal plan. The Orange Line Phase-2 will connect Subhash Nagar to Karond, while the Blue Line will stretch from Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri. Officials indicate that funding provisions for these routes could be included in the forthcoming budget.

In the previous budget, Bhopal received ₹425 crore, which facilitated approvals for 41 roads and three flyovers. Additionally, token budget allocations were made for road construction across nearly all urban and rural areas of the city, with an estimated cost of ₹447.21 crore.

However, some projects have not progressed as planned. Road construction connecting Shaitan Singh Tiraha to Kolar Main Road and the approach road for the proposed new ROB at Bawadia could not be completed within the last year.

Apart from infrastructure, the upcoming budget is also expected to focus on key departments such as sports and health, which had previously received allocations in earlier budgets. These sectors remain important priorities for city planners and policymakers.

With expectations high, both residents and authorities are looking forward to concrete allocations that will accelerate metro construction, improve road connectivity, and strengthen essential services in Bhopal.
