Bhopal Police Begins 15-Day Drive Against Traffic Violations

Bhopal Traffic Police on Monday launched a 15-day special drive to check overspeeding, reckless driving and other traffic violations. The campaign, which runs till September 22, 2025, will include strict fines and penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The action follows directions from the Police Training and Research Institute (PTRI) after a Supreme Court-appointed road safety committee flagged rising accidents in Madhya Pradesh. PTRI data shows the state records about 55,000 accidents and 14,000 deaths annually.

Police said the drive will focus on offences such as overspeeding, drunk driving, underage driving, wrong-side driving, riding without helmets, driving without seat belts, and using mobile phones while driving.

Officials warned that repeat offenders will face no leniency. District police have also been asked to send daily enforcement reports to the state headquarters.
