Bhopal Police Seizes ₹19 Lakh Worth Illicit Liquor, Arrests 3 in Piplani

In a major crackdown on illegal liquor trade under the state’s ‘Nashe Se Doori, Hai Zaroori’ campaign, Piplani police arrested three individuals on Thursday for transporting illicit liquor worth ₹19 lakh in a pick-up vehicle.
Tip-Off Leads to Big Seizure
Acting on specific intelligence, the police intercepted a Bolero pick-up (MP 04 GB 3603) on Khajuri Kalan Road. During the search, authorities recovered 300 cartons (2,700 litres) of English liquor without any valid permit. The seized consignment is valued at ₹19 lakh, while the vehicle used for smuggling is estimated at ₹10 lakh, officials said.
Accused in Custody
The three arrested suspects have been identified as:
- Yadram Rai (48) – Resident of Gundarai village, Raisen; employed at a liquor company office in Trilanga, Bhopal.
- Vijay Namdev (34) – Resident of Barkhedi, Bhopal.
- Rakesh Bansal (52) – Native of Tikamgarh, currently living in Teela Jamalpura, Bhopal.
Police said the accused failed to produce any valid documents for transporting alcohol. An interrogation is underway to trace the supply chain and destination of the contraband, Piplani police station in-charge Chandrika Yadav confirmed.
