Bike-Borne Miscreants Snatch Phone of Deputy CM’s PA in Bhopal, Police Launch Probe
Digital Desk
Bhopal police have launched an investigation after bike-borne miscreants snatched the mobile phone of Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla’s personal assistant, Sudhir Kumar Dubey, on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near JP Hospital in the TT Nagar area, prompting police to register a case and begin examining CCTV footage from nearby locations.
According to TT Nagar Police Station in-charge Gaurav Singh, Dubey, a resident of Tulsi Nagar, was walking near Taran Medical Store between 8:30 and 9 p.m. while talking on his phone. Two men on a motorcycle approached him, grabbed the mobile from his hand, and sped away before he could react. Police teams were immediately dispatched to the area, and footage from several CCTV cameras is being reviewed to identify the culprits.
This is not the first time senior officials have been targeted in the city. In September, IG Intelligence Dr. Ashish, an IPS officer, was robbed of his phone in a similar snatching incident near Char Imli while walking with his wife. Despite multiple leads, the culprits in that case remain at large.
In a separate case, burglars broke into the unoccupied government residence of Deputy Collector Alka Singh Wamankar in the upscale Char Imli area. The thieves escaped with over ₹11 lakh worth of gold jewellery, 250 grams of silver ornaments, and expensive wristwatches. Singh, posted at the Revenue Commissioner’s Office, had been away in Kerala for her husband’s medical treatment. Police suspect the house was targeted due to the absence of security.
The recent surge in thefts and snatchings across Bhopal’s high-security zones has alarmed both officials and residents. Police have stepped up patrolling in VIP areas and formed special teams to track down the offenders using technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs.
