Cabinet Approved Three Irrigation Projects of Rajgarh and Raisen Districts

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that farmers are our pride. We have left no stone unturned to enhance the dignity of farmers. Our goal is to deliver water to thirsty fields, and by reaching water to every field, we will soon achieve this goal. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing farmers at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that our government is committed to farmer welfare. With the intention of making the farmers of the state prosperous and empowered, we have declared the year 2026 as the Year of Farmer Welfare.

He said that work is progressing rapidly on the Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal Project, the Ken–Betwa River Linking Project, and the Tapi Ground Water Recharge Mega Project. After completion of these three river projects, almost the entire agricultural area of the state will become irrigated.

He said that currently, the irrigated agricultural area in Madhya Pradesh is 56 lakh hectares. Our government has set a target to increase it to 100 lakh hectares as soon as possible.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity and water to every village and every field of the state is our resolve. Public representatives and farmers from the Sarangpur Assembly constituency of Rajgarh district and the Bhojpur and Udaipura Assembly constituencies of Raisen district gave a warm welcome and felicitated Chief Minister Dr. Yadav while expressing their gratitude.

It is noteworthy that in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 13 January, 2026, the state government approved three separate irrigation projects costing about Rs 900 crore in the interest of farmers of these three Assembly constituencies. A large number of farmers enthusiastically felicitated Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for this initiative. The farmers presented him with an idol of Lord Shiva, a picture of Beejasan Mata, organic grains, and replicas of steel and wooden ploughs, expressing their happiness and gratitude.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that he himself comes from a farming family and understands very well the importance of irrigation for agriculture. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the maternal home of many rivers such as Narmada, Chambal, Betwa, Tapi and Kshipra, and because of these, our state is rich in water resources. The rivers flowing in the state provide irrigation water to farmers and are like lifelines for us.

We are leaving no stone unturned in the development of adequate irrigation facilities for agriculture. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav remembered former Chief Minister Late Shri Sundarlal Patwa, former Chief Minister Sushri Uma Bharti, and former Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan for their contributions towards farmer welfare and expansion of irrigation facilities in the state. He said that Late Shri Patwa was an ideal statesman of the state.
