Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Hemant Khandelwal will address the media on Tuesday to explain the key features of the Union Budget and its expected impact on Madhya Pradesh. The interaction will be held at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre in Bhopal, in the presence of BJP state in-charge Dr. Mahendra Singh and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Devda.
The briefing follows the presentation of the Union Budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday. According to the state leadership, the focus will be on provisions that directly benefit Madhya Pradesh, particularly funding for urban development, healthcare, women’s welfare and employment generation.
Chief Minister Yadav has said the Union Budget places special emphasis on the poor, youth, farmers and women. He highlighted the allocation for cities with populations exceeding five lakh, stating that dedicated funding would accelerate planned urban growth in Madhya Pradesh. The budget proposes spending ₹5,000 crore over five years on urban economic zones and infrastructure, which the state government believes will strengthen municipal services and attract investment.
Yadav also pointed to proposals for developing religious and pilgrimage sites in smaller cities, the construction of at least one women’s hostel in every district, and the upgradation of district hospitals. These measures, he said, would improve access to healthcare and education, especially in semi-urban and rural areas. Provisions to expand clinical trial sites and strengthen the healthcare ecosystem were also cited as steps that could benefit the state’s medical infrastructure.
Another major focus is the care economy. The Chief Minister noted that budgetary support for elder care and measures to reduce the cost of medicines for serious illnesses would provide relief across income groups. He added that reforms in the textile sector would significantly benefit Madhya Pradesh, particularly with the development of the PM MITRA Mega Textile Park. The project is expected to generate employment for nearly three lakh people and support around six lakh farmers, giving a boost to the Malwa-Nimar region.
BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal described the Union Budget as a roadmap for India’s development over the next decade. He said the emphasis on manufacturing strategic products—currently dominated by only a few countries globally—would strengthen India’s economic position. Khandelwal also welcomed the proposal for a dedicated freight corridor, stating it would reduce logistics costs and encourage trade and industry.
Calling it a move towards a “fear-free” tax regime, Khandelwal said the budget aims to provide relief across social and economic segments. Party leaders said the state government would work to align its policies with the Centre’s initiatives to maximise benefits for Madhya Pradesh.
