The incident occurred at approximately 2 AM when Kushwah was returning from a wedding and parking his vehicle near his house. Due to the late hour, no bystanders intervened. The attackers continued the assault until his family members rushed out upon hearing the commotion, forcing the assailants to flee. Kushwah was immediately admitted to the Trauma Center in serious condition.
CCTV footage from nearby cameras captured the attack, showing two assailants with uncovered faces while the remaining three had their faces concealed. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was linked to a land dispute involving Kushwah and Shailu Rajawat and Ramendra Singh Rajawat. Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the two sides had a heated confrontation in Randhir Colony under Gola Ka Mandir police station. Although the dispute was initially diffused by bystanders, the opposing party reportedly returned later at night to target Kushwah.
Kushwah, who also serves as the Congress assembly in-charge for Sevdha constituency and is a local property businessman, identified Shailu Rajawat and Ramendra Singh Rajawat as participants in the assault, though he could not identify the masked attackers.
Thatipur police station in-charge Vipendra Singh Chauhan confirmed that Kushwah’s statement has been recorded and efforts to apprehend all suspects are ongoing. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and gathering witness accounts to trace the attackers.
The incident has raised concerns over the escalation of local disputes into violent attacks, prompting calls for stricter security measures for political figures and residents involved in contentious land matters.
