Deepotsav Jabalpur 2025: 51,000 lamps illuminate Maa Narmada’s sacred ghats, thousands of devotees witness surreal spectacle

On Sunday, the sacred Gaurighat ghats along the Maa Narmada river came alive with lights as “Deepotsav Jabalpur 2025” was celebrated on the eve of Diwali. At the call of Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, the entire ghats were adorned with 51,000 diyas, creating an extraordinary and unforgettable visual spectacle.

As the lamps flickered across the ghats, a mesmerizing laser show and colorful fireworks lit up the sky, leaving thousands of devotees spellbound. Participants lit their own diyas, praying for the prosperity of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and the entire nation.

Inspired by Maa Narmada

Minister Rakesh Singh said,

“Following the inspiration of Maa Narmada and the guidance of revered saints, this festival has been organized for the fourth consecutive year. When this tradition began, we never imagined it would grow to such grandeur. It has now become a signature event of our cultural capital.”

He added,

“As followers of Sanatan tradition, Diwali is a festival of light, joy, and enthusiasm for us. The participation of Jabalpur residents has made this event truly historic.”

Festival light reaches the underprivileged

Singh also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Dr. Mohan Yadav, noting that GST cuts this year allowed broader access to markets, enabling even the underprivileged to celebrate Diwali with zeal.

Shankh sounds and Maha Aarti

The event began with the resonant sound of shankhs (conch shells) as the devotional atmosphere deepened with the chanting of Maa Narmada Ashtak and Maha Aarti, filling the ghats with a divine ambiance.
