Police sources confirmed that Siddiqui, who once operated a financial firm in Mhow, moved to Delhi two decades ago after being accused of fraud. He later established the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which runs the university and its associated hospital. Officials are now tracing Siddiqui’s former contacts and relatives in Mhow’s Kayastha Mohalla locality.
According to investigators, Umar Nabi and Muzammil Shakeel both doctors from Kashmir had long associations with Al-Falah University and its hospital. Another suspect, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, who was arrested from Faridabad, admitted to collecting explosives over the past two years. The police believe the group was part of a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, allegedly operating under the university’s cover.
A senior officer said the probe has expanded across multiple states, with the Delhi Police, NIA, and intelligence agencies jointly verifying the suspects’ movements and digital records. The investigators also detained cleric Ishtiaq from Mewat, Haryana, who was residing inside the Al-Falah University campus. From his quarters, police seized over 2,500 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulphur.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested another doctor, Tajamul, from Srinagar’s SMHS Hospitaltaking the total number of detainees in the case to ten.
Authorities are now examining whether the Faridabad-based institution was knowingly or unknowingly used to facilitate extremist activities. The network’s suspected reach into Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Kashmir has widened the investigation’s scope, with multiple agencies on high alert.
